Effects of alcohol on blogging, part 1

You know how you always think you're cooler when you're drunk? Have you ever wondered whether you were really cooler, or if you were just fooled by the alcohol? I have. Pretty much every time I drink. I always wish I had some way of recording the drunk version of me, so that the sober version of me can try to figure it out.

Clearly, there's no way to make this a blind study. Unless I get blind drunk. Double-blind drunk!

Tomorrow, I will visit this post (sober) to re-evaluate how funny it is. For Science!

I fear the blind study/blind drunk joke might not hold up so well.

Actually no, I've never thought myself cooler while drunk because I've never been drunk. I did once have my first and only hangover without ever having a drink. It was a chocolate mousse doused with Irish Creme whiskey. I couldn't finish it, it was so strong and I didn't drink enough, so dehydrated and a hangover that lasted pretty much most of the day.

People can learn social skills while drunk and less inhibited, but they are unfortunately more likely to remember them only when drunk again. So in theory, somebody could be "cooler" while drunk because they loosened up enough to learn how to be cool.

I knew this way back before I was legal to drink. I concluded I'd rather be sober and uncool and learn social skills the slow way... than be faster but at the cost of being cool ONLY when drunk. Still happy with that decision to not have chemically boosted social performance.

Anyway, how did this drunk blogging experiment make you feel?
